22-year-old Cameroonian NBA star Joel Embiid finally made his pro debut last night for the 76ers and did not disappoint.
After being drafted third overall in the 2014 Draft, a pair of serious injuries kept Embiid out for two consecutive years but now that he’s healthy, Embiid is looking every part of the player he was projected to be.
Other than dominating in the paint, Joel showed off an impressive offensive skill set, including a jump shot as smooth as any seven-footer we’ve seen before him.
This is a kid who’s obviously been working on his game while recovering from injuries but when asked just how he got his jumper so silky smooth, he credited white people on YouTube for teaching him how to get his form down pat.
In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated he says,
“You know how I learned to shoot? I watched white people. Just regular white people. They really put their elbow in and finish up top. You can find videos of them online.”
We’ve heard of people using online resources like YouTube for a wide array of “how to” videos but who would’ve expected seven-foot NBA players who get paid millions to be doing the same thing?
